Nigerian singer and writer Ruger brings his R.U. (Raw & Unfiltered), Vol. 2026 compilation to a close by dropping this six track project ending with a stripped-back take on ‘Jesus Loves Me’. Ruger is in his elements with his writing and uses his familiar tone of voice through his pen like he does everything on this body of work.
The title adds a touch of spirit but is framed as part of his sound as apposed to a straight gospel record. Sons of Sonix, two Brit Nigerian partners who have worked with Ruger a lot since his early days, provide a base that keeps Ruger’s delivery to the forefront of the production; making placing it at the close of the project a powerful finishing statement for the series to put Ruger back in place.
