Nigerian musician Reekado Banks whose real name is Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon has been open about his past disagreements with Afrobeats icon Wizkid. The 2020 incident where Wizkid publicly insulted him on social media was brought up by the Easy (Jeje) crooner in a recent podcast interview. Wizkid called Reekado Banks a fool and a clout animal for promoting the release of their joint song Omo Olomo during a time when tensions were high in Nigeria because of the EndSARS protests.
The dispute generated important discussions in the sector. In retrospect Reekado acknowledged that the episode was challenging for him particularly since he had originally suggested against releasing the song. He claims that his management team pushed for it because they thought it wouldnt hurt anyone. I didnt want to release the music so it wasnt the nicest. Despite my pleas to my management not to they persisted he said. The 31-year-old musician acknowledged that he did regret releasing the song at the time when asked. He revealed that the experience had taught him to follow his gut and make firm decisions. Of course. He revealed that the Morayo star had recently come to his restaurant and opened up to him about the incident. Wizkid apologized for his behavior and admitted that he shouldnt have reacted the way he did according to Reekado. Curiously Wizkid also apologized for his previous online criticism of music mogul Don Jazzy Reekado added. According to reports the two artists connected over their common experiences especially the recent death of their mothers. He regrets the outcome of the situation.
